In a thrilling display of speed and precision, France’s Flavio Vitale secured victory in the men’s giant slalom at the 2025 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships, outpacing a strong Scandinavian field on the “Priesnig B” course. The 19-year-old from Tignes, of Italian heritage, delivered a dominant performance, winning both runs and clocking a combined time of 2 minutes, 1.16 seconds.
Vitale edged out Norway’s Rasmus Bakkevig by 0.86 seconds, while Sweden’s Fabian Ax Swartz claimed bronze, finishing 1.25 seconds behind the leader. Norway’s Sebastian Hagan narrowly missed the podium by a mere four-hundredths of a second, with Britain’s Jack Irving securing fifth place, just one-hundredth ahead of compatriot Freddy Carrick-Smith.
Among the Italian contenders, Pietro Bisello finished 24th, climbing four places in the second run. Enrico Zucchini made a six-place recovery to finish 27th, while teammates Jakob Franzelin, Nicolò Nosenzo, and Luca Ruffinoni failed to complete the race.
The competition marked another standout day for Tarvisio and the JWSC 2025 organizing committee, with athletes praising the track’s impeccable preparation. Spectators enjoyed ideal weather conditions, reminiscent of Monday’s women’s giant slalom, where Italy’s Giorgia Collomb emerged victorious.
The day concluded with the official medal ceremony at the “Medal Plaza” in Piazza Unità d’Italia, Tarvisio’s central square.
