With temperatures rising and clear blue skies overhead, locals and visitors alike flocked to Molo Audace on Wednesday afternoon, savoring an early taste of spring. The historic pier, a favorite gathering spot along Trieste’s waterfront, was abuzz with activity as people embraced the unseasonably warm weather.

Strollers ambled along the promenade, while cyclists and joggers took advantage of the mild conditions. Café patrons lingered at outdoor tables, basking in the sunshine that bathed the city’s iconic seaside in golden light. Families with children enjoyed leisurely walks, and groups of friends gathered along the edge of the pier, gazing out at the calm Adriatic waters.

“It’s the perfect day to be outside,” said Andrea Martini, a Trieste native who took the afternoon off to enjoy the balmy weather. “After weeks of gray skies and rain, this feels like a gift.”

The warm spell brought temperatures well above seasonal averages, a welcome shift after the winter chill. Meteorologists noted that while March often brings unpredictable weather to the region, this week’s conditions created an ideal setting for outdoor activity.

For many, Molo Audace serves as a cherished retreat—a place to pause and take in the breathtaking views of the Gulf of Trieste, framed by the city’s elegant neoclassical architecture and the distant Karst plateau. Wednesday’s spring-like atmosphere only heightened its appeal.

As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, casting long shadows over the waterfront, the crowds showed no sign of dispersing. It was a fleeting but treasured moment of warmth and serenity—a reminder that, soon enough, spring would arrive in full.
