The Municipality of Trieste has announced an extensive series of events for March 7 and 8, 2025, to mark International Women’s Day. The celebrations are organized by the Department of Education, which handles Equal Opportunities, and the Department of Culture, which oversees the City’s Museums. The program includes a range of initiatives, including those sponsored by third-sector associations, and is financed with municipal funds.
The events will feature free museum admission for women, with special activities focusing on the achievements and contributions of women. Participating institutions include the Civic Museums of Trieste, the Miramare Castle Museum, the Science Imaginary Museum, the Antarctic Museum, and the Bora Museum.
In addition to exhibitions, the public will enjoy literary meetings at the Hortis Civic Library and at the LETS Museum Forum, as well as discounted cinema screenings at the Cinema Nazionale and Cinema The Space. A highlight of the programming will be a session titled “Sportively Woman” at the Trieste’s Castello di San Giusto, featuring female athletes discussing their national and international achievements.
The iconic Neptune Fountain in Piazza della Borsa will be lit up in purple on March 8, and a special message celebrating women will be projected on the Luminosa in Via Carducci starting from March 1.
