Closing Ceremony and Transition to Narvik 2026

At the closing ceremony, the FIS flag was officially handed over from Tarvisio 2025 to Narvik, Norway, which will host the 45th edition of the Junior Alpine World Championships in 2026. Janez Flere, a representative of the International Ski Federation, praised the competition’s organization, highlighting the quality of the slopes, logistical coordination, and the warm reception from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

A Successful Event for Tarvisio

The 44th edition of the Junior Alpine World Championships, held from February 24 to March 6, saw 382 athletes from 60 nations competing. The event, organized by PromoTurismoFVG under FIS supervision, relied on a dedicated team of 250 individuals, including members of local ski clubs, volunteers, and students from across Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Despite challenging early weather conditions, the races unfolded successfully, culminating in 11 world titles being awarded. Notable performances included Giorgia Collomb’s gold medal in the Giant Slalom and Cornelia Oehlund’s victory in the women’s slalom.

During the opening gala, FISI President Flavio Roda hinted at the possibility of Tarvisio hosting a Women’s World Cup event in the 2025-2026 season, with a final decision expected in May.

As the athletes depart Tarvisio, attention now shifts to Norway, where Narvik will take the reins for the next chapter in junior alpine skiing history.
