The Family Center of the Municipality of Trieste, in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, is offering a two-part educational course aimed at helping parents better understand and navigate the digital world alongside their children. The course, titled “Accompanying in the Digital Age: Two Meetings for More Aware Parents,” will take place on March 18 and 19 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sala Luttazzi in Magazzino 26.
The program is designed for parents of children and adolescents, as well as educators, and seeks to provide practical tools and strategies for managing the challenges of raising children in a technology-driven world. Topics covered include the impact of technology on child development, effective ways to manage screen time, and how to address risks related to internet use and social media.
The first session, “Children and Digital: Educating with Awareness,” will focus on children aged 0-11 years, while the second session, “Adolescents and Digital: Between Autonomy and Responsibility,” will address the unique challenges that come with raising teenagers in the digital era.
Dr. Silvia Pallaver, a pedagogue and adjunct professor in communication technologies, will lead the sessions, with Dr. Annalisa Castellano, head of the Family Center, moderating the discussions. The course aims to offer parents not only strategies for managing screen time but also resources to continue supporting their children’s digital education long after the course concludes.
