Italy’s most anticipated cultural event returns this spring as the Giornate FAI di Primavera (FAI Spring Days) opens the doors to hundreds of hidden historical and artistic gems across the country. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the initiative, organized by the Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI), will grant public access to 750 rarely seen sites in 400 cities on March 22-23, 2025.
In the northeastern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, 20 extraordinary locations in 12 municipalities will welcome visitors, many for the first time, with guided tours led by 200 volunteers and 479 student “Apprentice Cicerones.” A donation of at least €3 is suggested for entry.
Among the highlights in Trieste:
- The Former Lloyd Triestino Palace (now the seat of the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government)
- Villa Necker, an elegant neoclassical mansion with a storied past
- MIB Trieste School of Management, housed in the historic Palazzo Ferdinandeo
An exclusive tour for FAI members will offer access to Casa Massonica, the city’s Masonic Lodge, revealing its richly symbolic temple.
Since its founding in 1975, FAI has preserved and promoted Italy’s cultural heritage, welcoming over 13 million visitors to more than 16,000 sites. As the foundation marks half a century, its mission remains clear: to engage citizens in protecting the country’s artistic and historical legacy for future generations.
