In response to shifting global dynamics, the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia has introduced an ambitious long-term initiative aimed at strengthening its industrial sector. The FVG Manufacturing Agenda 2030, developed in collaboration with industry associations, will receive an initial investment of €107.5 million, with a strong emphasis on international expansion and identifying new export markets.
The initiative underscores the importance of institutional cooperation, particularly through partnerships with the neighboring Veneto Region and the Autonomous Province of Trento. Officials also pointed to resources such as Sportello Sprint and Finest as key tools for supporting businesses as they navigate global market challenges.
Sergio Emidio Bini, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s regional councillor for productive activities, highlighted the plan’s objectives during an event in Udine on Wednesday. Speaking at Torre Santa Maria, the headquarters of Confindustria Udine, Bini participated in the regional stop of the Roadshow on Internationalization and New Geopolitical Equilibria, an initiative supported by the Sistema NordEst per l’Internazionalizzazione, a project bringing together institutions and stakeholders from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Trento.
As part of the FVG Manufacturing Agenda 2030, the region is preparing to roll out 11 new calls for proposals in 2025 to provide targeted support for businesses. “These measures are designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises grow and access new export markets,” Bini said. “These businesses form the backbone of our regional economy.”
Among the first initiatives under the plan is a €1.4 million program launching in May 2025 to support companies in the wood and furniture sector. The program will focus on internationalization efforts, including strategic consulting, preparatory investments in foreign markets, and promotional activities abroad.
The event in Udine, which brought together business leaders and regional stakeholders, also featured remarks from Alessandro Minon, coordinator of the Sistema NordEst project and president of Finest, as well as Luigino Pozzo, president of Confindustria Udine. Attendees discussed strategies for adapting to the evolving geopolitical landscape and explored resources available to businesses looking to expand internationally.
