April 1st brought an unexpected blast of Bora wind to Trieste, leaving residents questioning whether spring had truly arrived. The powerful gusts, characteristic of winter, swept through the city, overturning outdoor café chairs and forcing pedestrians to brace against the chill. “I had packed away my winter coat, but I had to take it out again,” one local lamented. Others, however, welcomed the familiar force of nature. “It’s just Trieste being Trieste,” another shrugged. As temperatures fluctuated, one thing was certain—spring in Trieste always comes on its own terms.
