Ubik Bookstore, located in the Galleria del Tergesteo in Trieste, has released its schedule of literary and cultural events for April 2025. The program includes book presentations, discussions on history and poetry, theatrical performances, and a culinary event highlighting Greek traditions.
April 2, 6:00 p.m.
Historian Roberto Spazzali presents Gli “Ultimi del Risorgimento (Ares), with remarks by historian Fulvio Salimbeni. The event is organized in collaboration with the Italian Mazzinian Association of Trieste.
April 4, 6:00 p.m.
As part of the series “Trieste: Literary Crossroads,” Anna Piccioni leads a discussion on Donne Frontiere Scritture(Vita Activa, 2024) with authors Erica Mezzoli and Tatjana Rojc.
April 5, 6:00 p.m.
Psychiatrist Leonardo Mendolicchio presents his book L’amore è un sintomo (Solferino), in conversation with psychologist and psychotherapist Donatella De Colle.
April 7, 6:00 p.m.
The poetry series Astrolabio features Enzo Santese, who will introduce Pergola della Poesia, a group of poets from the Italian National Community of the Istrian-Kvarner area, including Gaetano Benčić, Loredana Bogliun, Laura Marchig, and Mauro Sambi.
April 10, 5:30 p.m.
As part of the series “Trieste: A Port of Flavors,” the Greek Orthodox Community of Trieste will present “The Foods of Greek Lent,” exploring traditional cuisine associated with the season.
April 13, 4:30 p.m.
“The Carpet of Books” offers readings for children ages 3 to 5, led by bookseller Marzia Mangano.
April 15, 6:00 p.m.
The theater series “The Trauma of Anguish” will feature a staged reading of “The Other Side,” an adaptation of Alfred Kubin’s work rewritten by Eleonora Ferrari. Organized by the theater association Le Ombre – Desto o son Sogno?, the event is part of a series exploring Central European literary classics.
April 16, 6:00 p.m.
A discussion on resistance movements in the Upper Adriatic will include the presentation of two books: “Si soffre ma si tace.” Luigi Frausin, Natale Kolarič: Communists and Resistance Fighters by Patrick Karlsen and Luca G. Manenti(Irsrec FVG), and Dictionary of Resistance on the Upper Adriatic Frontier, 1941-1945, edited by Karlsen (Gaspari). The discussion will feature the authors, with moderation by historian Gabriele Mastrolillo.
April 18, 6:00 p.m.
Author Ludovica Elder presents her novel I vestiti della domenica (Piemme).
