A special public event will be held on Friday, April 4, at the Tartini Hall of the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, focusing on the therapeutic and inclusive potential of music. The event, open to all with free admission, is organized by the Biblioteca Beethoveniana, the Aulòs Association, the de Banfield Association, and the Tartini Conservatory.

The event is part of the “Beethoven – Energy of Europe” project, originally launched by the Biblioteca Beethoveniana to mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The conference-concert will feature an introduction by Sandro Torlontano, Director of the Tartini Conservatory, and presentations from representatives of the three organizing entities.

Ludovico Carrino, director of the Biblioteca Beethoveniana in Muggia, will lead a discussion on artistic expressions inspired by Beethoven, exploring the deep connection between music, art, and well-being. The Aulòs Association, which specializes in music therapy for improving quality of life, will be represented by Chiara Maria Bieker, who will provide insights into the role of aesthetics in music therapy. Antonella Deponte, head of CasaViola, a facility supporting caregivers under the de Banfield Association, will share experiences from group activities involving vulnerable individuals and their families.

The evening will culminate in a performance by pianist Martin Rizov from the Tartini Conservatory, who will perform Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 109, underscoring the potential of music to improve quality of life.

The Biblioteca Beethoveniana, founded and managed by the Carrino family, is Europe’s largest private museum dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven. Its 11,500-piece collection, which includes works of art, music, and literature, is a significant cultural asset for both the region and Europe. The Biblioteca has long been involved in social inclusion efforts, collaborating with various associations and institutions. It has partnered with the de Banfield Association to offer music therapy for elderly individuals and caregivers, as well as dementia-friendly programs in Muggia, and has worked closely with the Tartini Conservatory.
