A new direct flight route between Trieste and Prague took off on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in air travel connectivity between northeastern Italy and the Czech Republic. The Ryanair-operated route, which will run twice weekly, is expected to bolster tourism and business ties between the two historically connected regions.
The inaugural flight was celebrated at Trieste Airport in Ronchi dei Legionari, where Paolo Petiziol, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic, joined the President and CEO of Trieste Airport to welcome the new service. The first group of passengers, along with Ryanair crew members, took part in the launch ceremony before boarding their flight to the Czech capital.
The new connection will operate on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 6:15 a.m., catering to both leisure and business travelers. Officials at the event emphasized the economic and cultural significance of the route, noting that it further strengthens the long-standing relationship between Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Czech Republic.
“Prague is one of Europe’s most enchanting capitals, a crossroads of Western and Eastern influences,” said a representative from Trieste Airport. “This direct link will open up new opportunities for tourism and trade, benefiting both regions.”
Often referred to as the “Golden City” or the “City of a Hundred Spires,” Prague is a UNESCO-listed metropolis renowned for its stunning architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Its addition to Trieste Airport’s growing network underscores the airport’s strategic ambitions to enhance international connectivity.
For years, travelers between Trieste and Prague faced indirect and often time-consuming routes. With this new Ryanair service, journey times are significantly reduced, offering a more convenient option for both Italian and Czech passengers.
As the first Ryanair flight from Trieste to Prague soared into the skies, local officials and industry leaders expressed optimism that the route would become a mainstay of regional travel, fostering deeper ties between Italy and the heart of Central Europe.
