Train passengers across Italy are bracing for significant travel disruptions this week as a national rail strike is set to impact services from Friday morning through early Saturday.

The 23-hour strike, called by the USB Lavoro Privato trade union, will begin at 3 a.m. on Friday, April 11, and continue until 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. The industrial action involves workers from several major railway operators, including Trenitalia, Italo, Trenord, and Trenitalia Tper.

Both regional and long-distance services are expected to be affected, with cancellations and delays anticipated throughout the country. The strike will also extend to the freight sector, potentially disrupting cargo transport.

Under Italian law, a minimum level of essential services must be maintained during transport strikes. Specific details regarding the guaranteed trains will be announced in the days leading up to the walkout.

Travelers are advised to check with individual train operators and consult the Italian transport ministry’s website for official updates and information.
