On Thursday, April 10, the famed Wiener Symphoniker will offer the city of Trieste a unique musical welcome: a series of pop-up performances in some of its most beloved public and cultural spaces. The initiative — billed as a “musical aperitif” — opens the orchestra’s residency in the city and serves as a prelude to Primavera da Vienna, a new spring festival hosted by the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The three-day festival, running April 11 to 13 at the Politeama Rossetti, has already earned a significant distinction: the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, awarded by President Sergio Mattarella in recognition of its cultural relevance.

Before the first gala concert, however, Trieste itself becomes a stage.

Starting at 4 p.m., ensembles from the Wiener Symphoniker will perform brief concerts throughout the city, transforming Trieste into an open-air celebration of Viennese artistry. Each venue has been carefully chosen to reflect the city’s historical and cultural fabric — from cafés and bookstores to piers and theaters.
