Trieste will host the 9th edition of Scienza e Virgola from May 6 to 11, 2025. The festival will focus on the theme “Technopolitics and Other Changes: The Planet Toward New Equilibriums,” exploring how new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and space exploration, influence global power dynamics.

The event, organized by the SISSA and directed by writer Paolo Giordano, will feature discussions on the impact of technology on geopolitics, climate change, and intergenerational issues. Notable speakers include Asma Mhalla, Massimo Recalcati, and Martin MacInnes. The festival will also showcase six national book premieres and host the inaugural Premio Strega Saggistica award for non-fiction writers.

In addition to book presentations, the festival will include interdisciplinary events across more than 20 locations in Trieste, including schools, cafés, and cultural venues. The festival aims to bring science and its societal impact to a wide audience, integrating discussions with the arts and sensory experiences related to food and nature.

Scienza e Virgola is supported by regional and national foundations and will be a significant cultural event for the city of Trieste.
