With April drawing to a close and temperatures on the rise, the City of Trieste has issued a reminder about local heating regulations as the official heating season ends on Tuesday, April 15.
In response to numerous inquiries from residents about the possibility of extending the heating period, city officials clarified that Trieste falls within climatic zone E under Italian law (Art. 4 of Presidential Decree 74/2013). This classification allows heating systems to operate from October 15 through April 15, for up to 14 hours a day between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Outside this period, heating systems may still be used without the need for specific authorization—but only for a maximum of seven hours per day. In these cases, indoor temperatures must not exceed 20°C (68°F), with an allowable margin of 2°C.
