In Trieste, Museums Stay Open for Easter and Liberation Day Holidays

In a gesture that blends cultural richness with public access, the City of Trieste has announced extended opening hours for its museums and temporary exhibitions throughout the Easter holidays and on Italy’s Liberation Day.

From Sunday, April 20 (Easter Sunday) through Sunday, April 27, all municipal museums and exhibitions will remain open daily, including on Easter Monday (April 21) and April 25, which marks Festa della Liberazione, Italy’s national day commemorating the end of Nazi occupation during World War II.

Cultural institutions will also remain accessible on May 1International Workers’ Day, ensuring that locals and tourists alike can explore Trieste’s historical and artistic treasures during the spring holiday season.

  • Revoltella Museum: 10 AM – 7 PM
  • San Giusto Castle: 10 AM – 7 PM
  • J.J. Winckelmann Museum of Antiquity: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Sartorio Museum: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Museum of Oriental Art: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Carlo Schmidl Theater Museum: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Risiera di San Sabba (former Nazi concentration camp and national memorial): 9 AM – 7 PM
  • Diego de Henriquez War for Peace Museum: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Natural History Museum: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Maritime Museum: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Museum of the Risorgimento and Oberdan Memorial: 10 AM – 5 PM
  • Basovizza Foiba Documentation Center: 10 AM – 6 PM
  • Botanical Garden: 10 AM – 1 PM

Temporary Exhibitions

Among the highlights is “McCurry – Looking at the World”, the much-anticipated exhibition at Salone degli Incanti, which will be open on Saturday, April 19Sunday, April 20, and Monday, April 21. Additional details on exhibition times and ticketing will be released in the coming days.

By keeping cultural doors wide open during Italy’s most significant spring holidays, Trieste reaffirms its role as a welcoming city where history, memory, and beauty remain accessible to all.
