Two nature photography exhibitions are currently on view at Porto Vecchio – Porto Vivo, offering visitors a glimpse into the biodiversity of both global and regional environments. Organized by the Municipality of Trieste’s Department of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the Italian Association of Nature Photographers (AFNI), the exhibitions will remain open through May 4.
In Sala Sbisà, the exhibition Asferico presents the finalist images from the 18th edition of the Asferico International Nature Photography Competition. Recognized as one of the leading contests in the field, the competition draws submissions from photographers worldwide, with approximately 18,000 entries annually. The photographs span a wide range of natural subjects, including landscapes, birds, insects, plants, and mammals.
In Sala Fini, TerræMare focuses on the coastal regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The project, developed by photographers from the region, documents the interaction between land and sea across various seasons. The exhibition highlights the area’s rich biodiversity and includes a brief overview of the region’s natural characteristics, curated by naturalist and writer Michele Zanetti.
Both exhibitions are open to the public free of charge from Thursday to Sunday and on public holidays, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Additional openings are scheduled for April 22 and 23.
