It’s Labor Day across Friuli Venezia Giulia, and from Trieste to Gradisca d’Isonzo, hundreds gathered in a spirit of solidarity. Marching behind banners for safer, fairer workplaces, Italy’s main unions—CGIL, CISL, and UIL—spoke with one voice after a 16% rise in work-related fatalities this year. In Trieste, families, retirees, and young workers filled the streets. “It’s not just about unions—it’s about our community,” said a local teacher. Others shared hopes for real change. “We want a future here,” said a student. “One where safety at work is a given, not a privilege.”
