A combination of tourist traffic and multiple road incidents led to significant delays in Trieste on Friday and Saturday, with local authorities reporting severe congestion across key areas of the city.
Viale Miramare was particularly affected, remaining blocked for several hours on Friday morning due to two separate incidents. Early in the morning, around 6 a.m., a tour bus collided with a row of parked cars, resulting in substantial damage and disruptions. Later, a vehicle from the public utility company Acegas experienced a mechanical failure and leaked engine oil onto the roadway, further complicating traffic conditions.
The situation was further impacted by a large influx of vehicles, many arriving from neighboring countries.
Ten local police patrol units were deployed to help manage traffic flow and assist with the incidents. The day highlighted the challenges posed by increased seasonal travel combined with unforeseen disruptions on the road network.
