The second edition of the Premio Grilz, an award honoring the legacy of war correspondent Almerigo Grilz, was presented Tuesday in Trieste during a press conference attended by regional officials and journalists.
Organized with the support of the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the award celebrates the work of journalists reporting from conflict zones with independence and courage.
“This award celebrates the bravery of reporters who choose to tell the truth without filters or compromise,” said vice governor of FVG, Mario Anzil, representing the Regional Council at the event.
Almerigo Grilz, a Trieste-born journalist killed in Mozambique in 1987, was remembered for his dedication to documenting global conflicts.
“The award named in his honor aims to encourage young journalists and reaffirm the importance of free and impartial journalism,” said renowned war journalist Fausto Biloslavo, known for his coverage of conflicts across the globe.
