The Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle has selected Illycaffè S.p.A. as its private partner in a new public-private partnership aimed at revitalizing key areas of the landmark site, according to an official announcement published on the museum’s website.
The decision follows a public call for proposals issued in January 2025. After evaluating submissions, a commission appointed by the museum chose the Trieste-based coffee company to manage and redevelop the Caffè Massimiliano and the adjacent historic greenhouses, known as the ex Serre Sgaravatti. These spaces will be transformed into venues for cultural events, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives.
As part of the agreement, Illycaffè must submit a detailed operational plan within 30 days, outlining the activities and work teams involved, in accordance with its original proposal. This plan will form the basis for the executive co-design phase, prior to the formal signing of the partnership agreement.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the visibility and functionality of Miramare Castle and its park, one of the most visited cultural sites in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
The selection committee was chaired by Tiziana Maffei, Director General of the Royal Palace of Caserta. Other members included Roberto Vannata of the Italian Ministry of Culture’s Directorate General for Museums, and Marta Nardin, head of communications at the Miramare Museum. Elisa Adamic served as the commission’s secretary.
