A recent hiring event held at the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia drew significant interest from job seekers hoping to join the upcoming production of Alegría – In a New Light by Cirque du Soleil, which will run in Trieste from June 13 to July 13.
According to Alessia Rosolen, regional councillor for labor, a total of 840 applications were submitted ahead of the Recruiting Day, organized by the region’s Central Labor Directorate to meet the staffing needs of the internationally renowned circus company during its month-long stay in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The Cirque is hiring 180 professionals for a range of support roles. These include positions in guest services (such as ushers, ticketing agents, security personnel, and porters), retail (food and beverage attendants, merchandise staff), and food service (chefs, assistant cooks, dishwashers, and waitstaff).
Out of the 404 applicants—many of whom applied for multiple positions—255 were deemed eligible. From 9:30 a.m. throughout the day, 360 interviews were conducted across 11 stations set up at the Rossetti Theater.
The most sought-after role was that of usher, with 109 applications processed across three interview stations. This was followed by porter roles (83 applications across two stations) and ticketing staff (66 interviews conducted).
The event is part of a broader effort by the regional government to promote employment opportunities tied to major cultural events and to support the local workforce’s involvement in high-profile international productions.
