Trieste’s Sunday moody skies didn’t catch the 91 sail boats competing for the Prosecco Cup off guard, as most crossed the finish line within three hours from the starting point in Sistiana bay.

Prosecco cup is the last of the four regattas and the one open to all boats, without restrictions. This Sunday’s event saw 88 amateur boats, and 3 professional competition for the cup.

Portopiccolo’s Wind of Change won the race with elegance and ease, surpassing all of the contenders and finishing in under two hours.

YES, which stands for Yachting Entertainment Show, will donate all of the proceeds from the regatta to Associazione ABC, which together with l’IRCCS Burlo Garofolo di Trieste has been helping families with sick children since 2007.

The spectacular event granted an exciting afternoon for Triestini and tourists, despite the eventual bora scura which hit Trieste around 3 pm.

The plan is to make this a regular feature of the city’s sporting calendar.
