The pandemic isn’t over, but that’s not stopping Trieste from breathing new life into the country’s trade fair industry. A project for Montebello Shopping Center was presented in the presence of mayor of Trieste, Roberto Dipiazza yesterday in Klagenfurt, Austria.

“For years this former glorious expo center has remained abandoned and unused. Now that the city of Trieste is getting more funds than ever before, it was time for us to do something about it. The part or the city which has been neglected for years will become lively once again,” said mayor Dipiazza.
“Despite a dramatic moment, the city is pushing to its limits, “ said head of the Austrian MID Immobiliare, Armin Hamatschek.
Project’s leading architect, Francesco Moreno, underlined the functionality of the endeavor. “From various shops, to a modern clinic to a rooftop garden for kids to play in, this novel mall will be an attraction for the whole city.”
“Without the local administration we would’ve never been able to do this,” underlined Hamatschek. “There will be 40 shops and a supermarket. As Austrians we care about being green, and the building will be class a, which means the overall consumption will be reduced. The use of recycling materials will help the environment. And last but not least, there will be 550 job openings.”
The project is expected to be completed by year 2025
