After a season full of surprises at Teatro Verdi, which included the ‘Amorosa Presenza’ by Oscar-winning Piovani, followed by the newly staged Respighi’s ‘Al Mulino’ last month, Verdi finishes on a high note (pun intended).
Die Fledermaus is a comic operetta with a sparkling score, which has been delighting audiences since its 1874 premiere in Vienna. Performed here in Italian, Die Fledermaus is a comic tale of revenge, mistaken identity, a masked ball, and perhaps, too much champagne.

“After a season full of trials, where we couldn’t fully book our beautiful theater, we are finally out of the woods, it seems,” said superintendent Giuliano Polo.
Nikolas Nägele, conductor and director added, “I love this score and find that the vocal demands are appropriate for younger singers. Because Die Fledermaus is an operetta with dialogue, our casts have had to hone their comedic timing skills, and also do a little dancing. It’s a fun challenge for them.”
‘Die Fledermaus’ will go on Verdi’s stage 10-17 July at 8.30 pm. Tickets can be purchased online: https://www.vivaticket.com/it and at Verdi’s box office.
