The Giro d’Italia organizers announced that its 2023 edition will finish in Rome, as opposed to at the seaside in Trieste, as previously speculated.

In the past, the Giro d’Italia climbed Monte Zoncolan’s steep pitches, and finished at the seaside in Trieste. “It was a sight to see,” one of the local viewers told us.

“Cycling takes place on the streets of cities, towns and countryside – not indoors – and this gives us wide open spaces to promote the area,” the organizers said. “It is unique opportunity: history, tourism, culture. Opportunities for everybody to highlight all the excellence that this area has to offer.”

This would’ve been Trieste’s fourth time to host the finish of the famous Giro d’Italia race.

The race will now conclude in Rome on 28 May 2023.
