While Italy is one of the countries most affected by the virus, the encouraging figures of the last few days allow us to envisage the beginning of the end of this very long lockdown.
Our region’s governor Fedriga along with Trieste’s mayor Dipiazza have stated many a time the eagerness to reopen as soon as possible. But what are we to expect when it actually happens?
Traveling and Moving Around
The travel ban in Italy will be relaxed, but self-certification will still be required. Transfers between municipalities in the same region will be authorized from May 4th (which means you will finally be able to go to that Ipercoop supermarket in Muggia).
Businesses and Offices
According to Italian scientists, the manufacturing and textile sectors are at a “medium-low” level of danger. They therefore have the green light for a reopening from May 4th but with staggered entry and exit offsets. Workstations for those working in offices should be spaced, and fever should be measured at the entrance.
Shopping
It is still unknown what the best way to restart the commerce sector from May 4th is. For example, the reopening of certain types of stores, from clothing to shoes, still poses many difficulties. The big obstacle, in addition to the distance between the customers, is that of the disinfection of clothes, which requires new machines and equipment. Local malls and markets will remain closed for the time being.
Hairdressers
Hairdressers and beauty salons must follow strict rules for cleaning and sterilizing instruments, as well as protections for staff and customers. Their reopening is still premature for May 4th and the postponement of at least a week is estimated, for May 11th at least.
Bars and Restaurants
According to Italian scientists, the reopening of these places offers the “greatest impact on the risk of reinfection” compared to other activities and therefore a greater distance – at least two meters between tables – and in any case a reduction by half capacity is provided to avoid any risk of contact. Fedriga stated that the restaurants can and should reopen as soon as they can, as long as they are able to guarantee the safety of their customers.
Walks
It will finally be allowed to take a walk around town and not strictly by your house, however always maintaining a safe distance from others. The parks, villas and gardens have been closed on the orders of the mayors and we will wait on Dipiazza to decide when they will reopen in Trieste.
Outdoor Physical Activity
It will be allowed to come back to train individually and it will therefore be possible to jog and perform outdoor sports. The distance between each person should however be at least two meters. Professional athletes will be allowed to return to gyms while always respecting the distance.
Theaters and Cinemas
As of now, these places are too risky to reopen. The opening ban has been extended for leisure clubs, theaters, cinemas, nightclubs and all cultural and leisure activities.
