The Italian health ministry has issued an orange alert heatwave warning for Trieste, along with other major cities this Monday, as temperatures tip 38°C.
The tempratures are expected to hit record high on Tuesday, tipping 40°C.
A level-two orange alert is in place all day Monday in Trieste and indicates weather conditions that pose risks of negative effects on the elderly, sick or very young.
The health ministry recommends avoiding exposure to the sun and outdoor activity in the middle of the day, as well as advising people to drink plenty of water, eat lightly and preserve their medication properly. Dogs should be walked early in the morning and late evening.
The red alert heatwave warning in Trieste is expected on Tuesday as temperatures might hit record 40°C.
