Save your Tuesday evenings in August for “Archeology by Night” at the The Museum of Antiquities “J.J Winckelmann” where the pre-historic and proto-historic collections from Trieste, Istria, and Santa Lucia di Tolmino will be on display.
The museum will show documentaries made over the years alongside the presentations in the evening with music performances by Lumen Harmonicum Association of Trieste (Lucia Premerl, Marco Favento, Massimo Favento, and Corrado Gulin). A Triestine composer Guido Pipolo will play one composition especially created for the “Archeology by Night 2023”.
This year’s theme is a five days journey that explores the multicultural world and its impact on our territory. The entry to all events is free.
The initiative will start on Tuesday 1 August with the film “The museum of surprises. Journey into prehistory with Carlo Marchesetti”, a video made by the Interdepartmental Center for Science and Technology applied to Cultural Heritage of the University of Trieste – together with the Municipality of Trieste, Museums and Libraries Service. A bit of prehistory between Trieste and Slovenia. The last evening will be dedicated to “The necropolis of Santa Lucia di Tolmino: the referencing of Carlo Marchesetti ‘s plans”.
Part of the ‘Trieste Estate’ program, Giorgio Rossi, the councilor for Culture and Tourism, and Marzia Vidulli, the Museum curators invite all the community in Trieste to take this opportunity to strengthen their knowledge about archeology and the territory. Five Tuesdays, at 20:30 and 21:30 will present different interventions filled with filming, conferences, analysis, and music.
“We have already reached the ninth edition of an event always greeted with great success from the public – explained the curator Vidulli – and it represents the moment in which we can use this splendid garden in the center of the city where it is particularly pleasant to hold conferences and musical events”.
