It was a perfect Friday afternoon with just enough wind to practice for the upcoming Barcolana regatta scheduled to start at 10.30 am this Sunday.
On board the Night Shadow sailing, a Maxi boat with the crew from all over the wold – we witnessed why zest and skill make for a great combination.

“We are a very international team and the diversity of is what makes us stronger,” the boat’s skipper, David Mizrahi told us as we were sailing on the Trieste golf.

“We won the Bernetti cup last Sunday and came in third in the Maxi Barcolana race, so we’re off to a good start,” Wade Hookham, grinder originally from South Africa told us.
“I have never missed a Barcolana in my life,” the newly acquired team member and the only Trieste local, Marco Bodini, told us. “Barcolana is completely different from other races. It’s a lot of boats and you have to be very technical.”

“We are a Maxi boat,” Bradley Ransom originally from the U.K. explained, “which means we are more than 16 meters. The last couple of days we’ve been able to race alongside the professional sailors and it’s been truly amazing.”

“A team of all boys and I’m the only girl. I am foredeck, so I am always in front hoisting the sails and dropping the sails,” said Jacqueline Hürlimann, originally from South Africa. “But we work great together, I am really lucky.”
