A multifunctional place which could become “a meeting place not only for the Slovenian community of Trieste but also for the people of Trieste themselves and the Italians”.

This is the hope that the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc Musar, made for the future of the Narodni dom (People’s House in Slovenian) in the San Giovanni district, reopened today after renovation works.

«This is how the future is built, made up of symbolic events and daily work; a closeness to be increasingly strengthened between citizens and businesses in our territory. Strong ties are the community of interest, culture, citizens and businesses that we must strengthen. This is the example at an international level”, echoed the Governor of Fvg Massimiliano Fedriga.

A short greeting ceremony took place right at the Narodni headquarters, marked by the friendship and collaboration between the two peoples, after the suffering of the Second World War and the long path of reconciliation. In this video by Andrea Lasorte, the Slovenian president Natasa Pirc Musar together with the regional governor Fedriga and the mayor of Trieste Dipiazza while symbolically planting a lime tree in the garden of the new structure.
