Unrelenting rainfall at higher altitudes in the past few hours has caused a delay in the early opening of the facilities at Sella Nevea. The commencement of the ski season, originally scheduled for tomorrow with the opening of the Rifugio Cai 1 and Gilberti slopes, has been postponed to December 8th. Despite adverse weather conditions and following technical assessments conducted this morning, PromoTurismoFVG has opted not to proceed with the opening of the facilities for skiers tomorrow.

The recent heavy rainfall has rendered the preparatory work on the slopes futile, resulting in significant water pooling near the skiable area, making it impractical for skiing. However, the Canin cable car, providing access to the Gilberti Refuge, will remain available for pedestrian use.

The ski season in Friuli Venezia Giulia will thus have to wait a few more days before the official start, set for December 8th, contingent upon the weather conditions in the coming days. For updates, interested parties can refer to the InfoNeve website (www.turismofvg.it/montagna/infoneve), with the next bulletin scheduled for Wednesday, December 6th, to provide insights into the weekend’s developments.
