In the spirit of the holiday season, the Diocese of Trieste has announced its festive calendar, featuring a lineup of events led by Bishop Enrico Trevisi.
Christmas Eve Highlights: On Sunday, December 24th, at 9:45 AM, Bishop Trevisi will conduct a special Mass at the male section of the “Ernesto Mari” Penitentiary. Later in the day, at 5:00 PM, Monsignor Trevisi will participate in the solemn Vespers of Saint Spiridion at the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Midnight Mass Broadcast: Leading the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at 11:30 PM in the Cathedral, Bishop Trevisi will preside over the Office of Readings. The live broadcast of this celebration can be tuned into on Radio Nuova Trieste.
Christmas Day Schedule: On Monday, December 25th, marking the Feast of Holy Christmas, Monsignor Trevisi will celebrate the grand Mass in the Cathedral at 10:00 AM. This ceremony will also be broadcast live by Radio Nuova Trieste and Telequattro. Additionally, at 6:00 PM on the same day, the Bishop will lead the solemn Vespers in the Cathedral.
New Year’s Eve March for Peace: To wrap up the year, on Sunday, December 31st, Bishop Trevisi will participate in the 56th National March for Peace in Gorizia. The event, organized by the Episcopal Commission for Social Issues and Labor, Justice and Peace of the CEI, in collaboration with the Italian Catholic Action, Caritas Italiana, the Focolare Movement Italy, and Pax Christi Italia, will commence at 4:00 PM. Various talks and testimonials will accompany the march, concluding with a Mass at 9:00 PM at Nova Gorica Cathedral.
New Year’s Day Mass for Peace: Welcoming the year 2024 with a focus on peace, Monsignor Trevisi will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, on Monday, January 1st, at 6:00 PM in the church of Sant’Antonio Taumaturgo. Following the Mass, the Bishop and the President of Catholic Action will present Pope Francis’s message on “Artificial Intelligence and Peace” to the authorities.
Epiphany Celebration and Peoples’ Mass: Concluding the festive season on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, the Feast of Epiphany, Bishop Trevisi will preside over the Peoples’ Mass at 10:30 AM in the parish church of Santa Teresa del Bambino Gesù.
