Muggia Mayor Paolo Polidori announced the commencement of reconstruction efforts on the road to Lazzaretto, which was recently devastated by a fierce storm, rendering a crucial transportation route impassable and affecting vital connections with Slovenia. The repairs are slated to kick off in January.

Mayor Polidori, in constant communication with the regional Civil Protection since the disaster days, reveals that they’ve committed to urgently undertaking the road reconstruction and reinforcing the shoreline to prevent future damages.

“I express my gratitude to the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the regional Civil Protection for taking on this significant task,” says Mayor Polidori, visibly pleased. “I had proposed seizing the opportunity to completely rethink that stretch of road, including widening the roadway and beach area. However, due to the necessary authorizations pending, and the absence, as of now, of a commissioner appointment by President Fedriga, we cannot afford to delay the project. The Road to Lazzaretto is expected to reopen in approximately two months, well ahead of the upcoming summer season.”
