The Festival of Psychology is back in the region, this time exploring “The New Frontiers of Psychology” for the fourth time. Committed to challenging stereotypes and disseminating psychological knowledge for the well-being of individuals and communities, the festival promises engaging events and encounters. As anticipation builds for the upcoming events in February and March 2024, Psicoattività’s executive committee invites young graduates and researchers under 36 to participate in the Second Prize for Innovative Research in Psychology.
The application deadline, set for February 1, 2024, is approaching. The call is open to research papers, master’s theses, or doctoral dissertations published or defended between September 1, 2022, and February 1, 2024, focusing on innovative psychological themes and utilizing an empirical approach. The aim of the prize, which offers cash rewards of 600, 300, and 150 euros, is to promote scientific initiatives that contribute to the development and dissemination of psychology in various fields, enhancing the cultural landscape of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The awards ceremony will be a highlight during one of the festival’s events, taking place from mid-February to late March 2024 across Trieste, Gorizia/Nova Gorica, Palmanova, Cormons, and Gradisca. The overarching theme, “The New Frontiers of Psychology,” will guide the audience toward developing critical thinking skills and bridging the gap between actual psychological knowledge and naive theories. The festival also emphasizes its commitment to innovative areas of the discipline and the involvement of young students and researchers, facilitated by partnerships with the University of Trieste, the SISSA International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste, and the SASS School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica.
Exploring the intersection of psychology and sports, creativity in service to social inclusion, gender differences, and the psychology of personality in relation to individual choices are among the festival’s focal points. These emerging areas of research and application in psychology will be presented to the public in an accessible manner, encouraging active participation.
Supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Ministry of Culture, the festival is made possible through the generous contributions of CaRiGo Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia and collaboration with the municipalities of Gorizia/Nova Gorica – in preparation for GO! 2025 – Cormons, Gradisca, and Palmanova, in addition to partnerships with the University, SISSA in Trieste, and SASS in Nova Gorica.
