Regional council members Barbara Zilli (Finance) and Pierpaolo Roberti (Local Autonomies) provided an update on the Nautaverse – The Sea Park 5.0 project, a long-anticipated urban development and regeneration initiative scheduled for completion in three years. The project, primarily financed by the regional administration, aims to establish a connection between the city and the sea with a focus on science and innovation.

Zilli and Roberti emphasized the project’s unique nature and the significant role played by the scientific community, represented by the scientific committee overseeing aspects of Nautaverse. Zilli highlighted the region’s commitment of €8 million, stating that it reflects their confidence in the project’s innovative potential. She also mentioned the financial support as an investment in a digital interaction strategy for scientific outreach, anticipating that Sea Park 5.0 will achieve financial sustainability upon completion.

Roberti echoed citizens’ expectations for tangible benefits to the region, both economically and socially. He pointed to the region’s active participation in the scientific committee as a strategic move, emphasizing their commitment to creating a distinctive scientific and educational hub focused on the sea. The goal is to enhance the knowledge and attractiveness of Friuli Venezia Giulia on an international scale.
