The “G. Caprin” school in Trieste has been awarded an honorable mention at the School Competition on the “10th of February – Day of Remembrance.” In the upcoming days, the school will be recognized at the Quirinal Palace by President Mattarella. This announcement was made by School Principal Mauro Dellore, who praised the students’ efforts in raising awareness about the history of the region.

The school participated in the 14th National Competition on February 10, titled “A World and a Past: Stories from the Homelands of Julian-Fiuman-Dalmatian Exiles,” organized by the Ministry of Education and the Merit and the Association of Istrian, Fiuman, and Dalmatian Exiles. Among the participants, one student and their teacher will travel to Rome to receive the award.

While the specifics of their project remain undisclosed, it is known that the students interviewed an Istrian exile from Cittanova who has been living in Trieste since the age of six. Through this interview, they gained insights into life in Istria, including daily routines, leisure activities, and religious and secular traditions. They also developed a deeper understanding of the trauma of exile and social integration in Trieste.
