Today marks the commencement of the 70th edition of the Muggia Carnival, with festivities set to begin at 5 p.m. in Marconi Square. The event will kick off with the traditional Vegetable Ball, followed by the ceremonial handover of the city keys from Mayor Paolo Polidori to King Carnival. Throughout the afternoon, attendees can enjoy music and entertainment in the square.
In addition to the carnival events, today also sees the opening of the amusement park on Caliterna Square. This year, the park features an expanded village with various food and drink stands, along with additional options available in Republic Square and Galilei Square. Musical entertainment will start at 7 p.m. in both Marconi Square and Caliterna Square.
The action kicks off on February 8th with the traditional opening ceremony at Marconi Square, climaxing on February 14th with the Carnival’s somber farewell. But the heart of the festivities beats on February 11th, when downtown Muggia transforms into a carnival spectacle. Expect to be dazzled by allegorical floats and a sea of masks, all brought to life by the Carnival Companies. The parade starts at 1:00 PM, with prime seating available online via Ticketpoint.
