On Monday, March 18, 2024, at 4:00 PM, a buzz of anticipation will fill the air at the newly minted headquarters of the Hubgrade association, nestled at 8 Srečko Kosovel Street in Basovizza. It will be here that the Municipality of Trieste, in tandem with Centro Europe Direct Trieste and Centro Eurodesk, will orchestrate a pivotal event: a leg of the much-anticipated Alps-Adriatic Europe Coffee Tour.
Against the backdrop of a sleek, European-branded electric vehicle dubbed “e-ape,” the stage will be set for an enlightening journey spanning Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and Northern Italy. The mission? To engage with communities, enlightening citizens about the forthcoming 2024 European elections, commemorating three decades of the single market, spotlighting the European Year of Skills, and unraveling the strategic priorities of the European Commission.
Trieste’s segment of the tour will be conceived not merely as a waypoint but as a nexus of dialogue and collaboration, particularly concerning European mobility and the manifold opportunities extended to the youth. Anchored by the Hubgrade association, a key partner in the NIT Networking In Trieste initiative, the event will promise authentic insights drawn from firsthand experiences of international mobility.
Echoing the spirit of transcontinental dialogue, the gathering will facilitate exchanges between beneficiaries of European projects and prospective participants keen on exploring the educational mobility avenues fostered by the European Union. Central to these discussions will be programs such as the European Solidarity Corps and the youth-focused arm of the Erasmus+ initiative, underscoring the EU’s commitment to nurturing cross-cultural understanding and fostering personal growth.
This event, emblematic of the broader objectives outlined in the NIT Project – Networking In Trieste, will stand as a testament to the collaborative efforts spearheaded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service. In partnership with the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) and a diverse consortium including the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the University of Trieste, the initiative will aim to empower the youth and fortify ties across borders, heralding a future defined by mutual understanding and shared prosperity.
