Friuli Venezia Giulia proudly revealed the second iteration of the National Fair of Culture and Creativity, Eureka, which aims to foster dialogue and growth among participants, extending its reach to national companies as well as those from neighboring regions like Austria and Slovenia. The event will feature a sprawling exhibition area housing approximately 100 stands alongside an arena for workshops and B2B engagements.
“Eureka holds a special place in our hearts as it not only celebrates the rich tapestry of culture but also actively engages private stakeholders who are at the forefront of this dynamic realm,” remarked Mario Anzil, Vice Governor and Councilor for Culture, during the unveiling ceremony.
An initiative championed by the Directorate of Culture and Sport of the Region, Eureka follows the footsteps of its successful inaugural edition in January 2022 and the intermediate rendezvous, Eureka Day 2023. It has firmly established itself as a pivotal event for all entities within the sector.
Highlighting the importance of artisans in the cultural landscape, Anzil emphasized, “The artisans of culture are the embodiment of intuition, imagination, flair, and creativity – quintessentially human traits that resonate even more profoundly in our era dominated by pervasive technology.”
“Eureka 2024 signifies a crucial milestone in our journey to harness culture and creativity as strategic assets for regional growth,” underscored Anzil. “Culture not only enriches us personally and socially but also serves as a catalyst for economic development, fostering innovation and forging new avenues of collaboration.”
Citing the pivotal role of the cultural and creative sector in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Anzil noted its substantial contribution to the regional GDP, accounting for 6%, and its employment impact, with over 5,000 active enterprises in the region.
Recent data indicates that this sector has generated 5.5% of the total value added to the territory’s economy, amounting to over 2 billion euros. In terms of employment, it provides livelihoods to over 31,000 individuals, constituting 5.8% of the region’s workforce.
Trieste emerges as a front-runner in Italy, ranking fifth for the value added produced by its cultural and creative production system and sixth for employment within the sector, underscoring its pivotal role in driving local economic growth.
Friuli Venezia Giulia, positioned third in the national landscape, after Lombardy and Lazio, boasts a robust cultural and creative ecosystem, with cultural and creative enterprises (Icc) constituting 5.1% of the region’s business landscape.
In its pursuit of fostering collaboration and innovation, Eureka 2024 stands poised to not only celebrate the richness of culture and creativity but also serve as a catalyst for economic vitality and regional prosperity.
