In a joint announcement, the University of Trieste (UniTS) and Asd Promorun unveiled plans for the #100UniTS Castle Run, set to take place on Sunday, October 20, 2024. The event, a 10-kilometer road race certified by FIDAL, was presented at the Cammarata Hall of the University of Trieste.
Marking a significant milestone, Promorun solidified a strategic alliance with UniTS, coinciding with the university’s centenary celebrations. UniTS, renowned for a century of research, excellence, creativity, and human ingenuity, will infuse the Castle Run 2024 with its distinctive ethos. Notably, race medals and attire will showcase UniTS’s centennial logo, adorned with the institution’s signature cherry red.
The collaboration underscores Promorun’s commitment to delivering top-tier sporting events that integrate seamlessly with community milestones and values. Through meticulous planning, Promorun has earned the trust of institutions like UniTS, further cementing its position as a premier organizer in the region.
Speaking at the event, UniTS Rector Roberto Di Lenarda emphasized the significance of incorporating a major sporting event into the university’s centenary festivities. He encouraged all to explore the university’s centennial calendar of events on its dedicated website.
Regional dignitaries also lauded the partnership’s significance, with Fabio Scoccimarro, Regional Assessor for Environment, Energy, and Sustainable Development, highlighting the event’s role in promoting environmental awareness and civic engagement.
Pierpaolo Roberti, Regional Assessor for Local Autonomies, underscored the Castle Run’s symbolic fusion of Trieste’s cultural landmarks, uniting Miramare and San Giusto castles with UniTS in a celebration of excellence.
Caterina de Gavardo, Assessor for City Security Policies, commended the organizers for promoting healthy living and community engagement through sport, underscoring Trieste’s reputation as Italy’s foremost sporting city.
As preparations for the Castle Run gather momentum, Michele Gamba, former Italian athlete and Technical Director of the race, expressed pride in the burgeoning partnership and reiterated Promorun’s commitment to delivering an exceptional event experience.
