An increasing number of residents are finding solace in the art of urban gardening and beekeeping in Trieste. Spearheaded by the collaborative efforts of Urbi et Horti, Legambiente Trieste, Bioest, and the Municipality of Trieste, a comprehensive training course has been designed to equip enthusiasts with the necessary knowledge and skills to cultivate green spaces in the heart of the city.
Scheduled for Thursday, April 4th, at 5:30 PM, the upcoming session will feature Zenaide Vedelago delving into the intricate world of pollinator insects, with a special focus on beekeeping. Drawing from personal experiences, Vedelago promises to shed light on the crucial role of these insects in urban biodiversity.
Tiziana Cimolino, a prominent figure in the Trieste community, underscores the accessibility and myriad benefits of urban gardening, emphasizing its potential to promote healthier lifestyles and foster a deeper connection with the environment. With a curriculum spanning four modules, participants will gain insights into various gardening techniques, from organic and biodynamic to permaculture, guided by experts in agriculture and botany.
The course’s practical approach extends beyond theoretical lessons, offering hands-on experiences in the field under the mentorship of seasoned farmers. From seed sowing to harvest, attendees will receive personalized guidance to realize their urban gardening aspirations.
Notably, the initiative also aims to cultivate a sense of community and shared responsibility towards the environment. By engaging participants in discussions on common goods and social agriculture, organizers hope to foster a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
