In an inclusive initiative aimed at fostering community engagement and scientific exploration, the Scientific Museums of Trieste are set to launch “Walking and Learning,” a series of outdoor lectures designed for all, with a special focus on individuals with disabilities.

The inaugural event, titled “Walking Together,” is scheduled for Saturday, April 20th, promising a delightful stroll along an accessible route spanning approximately 2.5 kilometers. Organized in collaboration with the Social Cooperative Trieste Integrazione a.m. Anffas, renowned for their commitment to creating simplified scientific dissemination paths through their “Accessible Museum” project, the walk aims to break barriers and make scientific knowledge accessible to diverse audiences.

Amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Triestine Karst, participants will pause at designated spots to delve into various topics, ranging from the geological marvels of Karst stone to the subterranean wonders of caves housing the Timavo River and the elusive proteus. Flora and fauna endemic to the region, alongside the discovery of new species, will also feature prominently in the discussions.

Guiding the exploration will be texts written in Easy-to-Read Language, ensuring that information transcends linguistic barriers, welcoming individuals with limited language proficiency and young enthusiasts alike.

Admission is free, with pre-registration required via downloadable forms. Registrants will receive further details, including the meeting point, upon confirmation. To reserve a spot, interested participants can reach out via phone at 3482216216 or email at progetti_cse@triesteintegrazioneanffas.it.

Accessible by Bus No. 39/ and No. 51, the gathering will convene rain or shine, with the meeting time set for 2:45 PM. The spirit of inclusivity and exploration awaits as communities come together to embrace the wonders of nature and knowledge.
