In a bid to attract tourists from the far reaches of Europe, Friuli Venezia Giulia is making its mark in the Nordic capitals of Copenhagen and Stockholm. This ambitious endeavor blends the region’s rich culinary heritage with its burgeoning sporting prowess, aiming to lure travelers seeking both gastronomic delights and thrilling alpine adventures.
In a recent event held at Eataly’s premises in Stockholm, the spotlight fell on the delectable tiramisu, expertly crafted by none other than Sara Hector and Anna Swenn Larsson, luminaries of the women’s national ski team. Their culinary showcase, amidst an evening organized by PromoTurismoFVG, underscored the region’s commitment to fostering partnerships, particularly in anticipation of the forthcoming 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
But it wasn’t just about desserts and delicacies; it was about forging connections. The workshop that preceded the evening brought together 31 companies, 47 tour operators, and five journalists, all eager to delve into the allure of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Amidst presentations and discussions, the region’s natural beauty and sporting infrastructure were extolled, with a particular focus on the Ravascletto-Zoncolan area, slated to serve as the team’s training ground until 2026.
For Sara Hector, the decision to make Friuli Venezia Giulia their training base was a natural fit. “We immediately felt at home in the welcoming environment,” she remarked, echoing the sentiments of her teammate Anna Swenn Larsson, who praised the region’s challenging slopes and warm hospitality.
The evening’s festivities didn’t end with tiramisu; they continued with a lavish dinner, showcasing the region’s culinary bounty. From San Daniele ham to Montasio cheese, and from frico to polenta, guests were treated to a feast of flavors, each dish meticulously prepared to highlight the region’s gastronomic heritage.
This Swedish extravaganza follows a similar soirée in Copenhagen, where Friuli Venezia Giulia’s charms were showcased to an equally captivated audience. Following a workshop involving 34 companies, 42 tour operators, and seven journalists, the region’s allure was conveyed through a symphony of images, videos, and, of course, flavors.
As Friuli Venezia Giulia continues to captivate hearts and palates across Europe, one thing is clear: its blend of culinary excellence and sporting prowess makes it a destination not to be missed. Whether you’re craving a taste of authentic Italian cuisine or seeking adrenaline-pumping adventures on the slopes, Friuli Venezia Giulia promises an unforgettable experience, where every dish tells a story and every slope beckons with promise.
