In the elegant halls of the Miramare Museum, a mesmerizing artifact takes center stage, captivating visitors with its enchanting allure. The scepter of Carlotta, a symbol of regal elegance and historical significance, beckons guests to embark on a journey through time and knowledge.
For a limited time, the museum presents an unmissable opportunity to delve into the realms of both the scepter and the exhibition “Kosmos, the Ship of Knowledge,” housed in the majestic Stables of the Castle.
From May 2nd to 9th, patrons can acquire tickets granting access to both exhibits for a mere 15 euros. The immersive experience doesn’t end there; visitors have until June 16th to explore the rich tapestry of history and exploration, spanning from the 19th century to the modern era.
Director Andreina Contessa of the Miramare Castle Historical Museum and Park expressed excitement about the unique offering, particularly for local patrons. The acquisition of Carlotta’s scepter, made possible through a generous loan from the CRTrieste Foundation, adds a new dimension to the museum’s narrative, intertwining local history with broader European significance.
Inspired by the scientific expeditions of the 19th century, “Kosmos, the Ship of Knowledge,” pays homage to a pivotal era in biological sciences. Among the notable expeditions highlighted is that of the frigate Novara, which set sail from Trieste in 1857 under the patronage of Maximilian of Austria.
The arrival of Carlotta’s scepter serves as a poignant reminder of Trieste’s central role in international geopolitics during the mid-19th century. Gifted to the Empress upon her arrival in Mexico alongside Maximilian of Austria, the scepter embodies a bygone era of diplomatic intrigue and imperial grandeur.
As Contessa aptly quotes Marcel Proust, “the real exploration journey does not consist of seeking new landscapes but in looking at things with different eyes.” Miramare Museum invites visitors to embrace this perspective as they embark on a voyage of discovery.
But the excitement doesn’t end there. On May 1st, in celebration of the anniversary of the frigate Novara’s departure from Trieste’s port, the museum will open its doors to the public. It’s a chance for newcomers to immerse themselves in the wonders of “Kosmos” and explore worlds both past and future.
In the opulent halls of Miramare Museum, history comes alive, inviting guests to unearth the treasures of the past and chart a course towards a brighter future.
