In a testament to its rich cultural heritage and vibrant literary scene, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will be making a significant mark at the upcoming Turin Book Fair, scheduled from May 9 to 13. With a focus on promoting the forthcoming and highly anticipated Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 (GO! 2025) event, as well as highlighting the prestigious activities of the Scriptorium Foroiuliense of San Daniele del Friuli, the region promises an engaging and immersive experience for attendees.
The Friuli Venezia Giulia stand, crafted entirely from locally sourced wood, serves as a symbol of the region’s commitment to sustainability and authenticity. Organized with the support of Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it, the booth will feature nearly forty cultural events showcasing the region’s diverse heritage and scenic beauty, thanks to the active involvement of PromoturismoFVG.
Located within the Oval pavilion of Lingotto, the stand will host various activities, including presentations on GO! 2025, which will spotlight Nova Gorica and Gorizia as the European capitals of culture. Notably, visitors can expect a special presentation of the Scriptorium Foroiuliense Foundation, featuring a reproduction of a historic movable type printing press used to recreate the Gutenberg Bible of 1453. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness real-time printing demonstrations and explore a selection of exquisite volumes throughout the fair.
The regional space will also serve as a platform for several publishing houses, including members of the Association of Publishers of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Kepown, La Patrie dal Friul, and Società Filologica Friulana, to showcase their latest publications. Additionally, esteemed authors such as Claudio Gregori and Alessandro Mezzena Lona will engage in dialogue, commemorating Ottavio Bottecchia’s historic victory in the 1924 Tour de France.
In collaboration with Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it, the stand will continue to be a hub for poetry enthusiasts, offering a curated selection of literary works and hosting author meetings. Notable figures like Antonella Anedda and Mariolina Venezia will share insights into their award-winning works, adding depth to the cultural tapestry of the event.
Throughout the fair, attendees can immerse themselves in the beauty of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region through captivating imagery and videos showcasing its scenic landscapes and cultural landmarks. The PromoTurismoFVG area will also spotlight various cultural initiatives, further enriching the visitor experience.
As the Turin Book Fair approaches, Friuli Venezia Giulia stands poised to captivate audiences with its rich cultural offerings, affirming its status as a beacon of creativity and heritage in Italy.
