Triestebookfest, in collaboration with the newspaper “Il Piccolo” of Trieste and with the generous backing of the Pietro Pittini Foundation, has unveiled the second edition of the “Corrado Premuda Contest for Them,” dedicated to commemorating the legacy of the late journalist and writer Corrado Premuda.

The contest, aimed at high school students in the province of Trieste, seeks to honor Premuda’s fervor for teaching, literature, and his beloved hometown. Premuda, who served as an Italian teacher at the Ial of Trieste, tragically passed away on July 9, 2022, leaving behind a profound impact on the community.

Angela Del Prete, Vice President of Triestebookfest, underscores the contest’s mission, stating, “With this Contest, we want to pay tribute to the passion that the writer had for teaching, writing, and Trieste.” She emphasizes that participants are invited to explore themes surrounding humanity’s relationship with the environment, echoing the recent Triestebookfest theme, “What a Wonderful World!”

Students are encouraged to submit a variety of creative works, including articles, videos, photos, or comics, reflecting on the interconnectedness between humans and the natural world. Additionally, they have the option to provide a brief description of their submission. The overarching objective is to foster narratives and reflections on the imperative of respectful coexistence with all species on the planet.

The contest, open to young residents of Trieste aged between 15 and 18, offers a platform for budding talents to showcase their creativity and environmental consciousness. Submissions will be accepted from May 10, 2024, to October 31, 2024, with entries to be sent via email to triestebookfest@gmail.com.

A distinguished panel of judges, comprising members of the Triestebookfest board, journalists from Il Piccolo, and representatives of the Pittini Foundation, will select the winners. Prizes include a 200-euro purchase voucher and the publication of winning works in Il Piccolo and on its digital platforms.

Furthermore, the contest aims to celebrate not only the winners but also commendable submissions, with select entries receiving recognition on the Triestebookfest website and social media channels.

For further information and inquiries, interested parties are encouraged to reach out to triestebookfest@gmail.com or contact Angela Del Prete at 3202212039, preferably via Whatsapp.

As Triestebookfest gears up for its second edition of the Corrado Premuda Contest for Them, it stands as a beacon of creativity, education, and environmental stewardship in the Trieste community and beyond.
