Amid the glitz and glamour of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, we caught up with Alan Viezzoli, a journalist from Radio Attività in Trieste, to discuss the festival’s highlights and the films that are making waves.
Alan, how have you been? It’s an exciting 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Alan Viezzoli: Yes, indeed. We have seen a lot of good movies.
Which movies do you think are going to be popular when they come to Trieste? Which ones should everyone see in the theaters?
Alan Viezzoli: I can give a couple of recommendations. I’d really like to advise Paolo Sorrentino’s movie, Parthenope. We don’t know when it will be in theaters yet because it hasn’t had a release date announced. But I think it’s the best movie I’ve seen here.
That sounds intriguing. Is there anything already in theaters in Italy that you would recommend?
Alan Viezzoli: Yes, Roberto Minervini’s Eden Natty. It’s in the “Un Certain Regard” section of the festival. This movie is already in theaters in Italy and it’s really great. I also enjoyed Les Champs, a very fun movie with a lot of rhythm and humor. I don’t know if it will make it to theaters widely, but if it does, I highly recommend it.
The Trump movie has also made a lot of waves here.
Alan Viezzoli: Yes, The Apprentice is a really good movie. It’s particularly timely with the current political climate in the USA and the possibility of Trump being the next president again. The film covers the first part of Trump’s career and it’s really well done.
