On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:00 PM, all eyes will turn to the esteemed Ubik Bookstore nestled within the historic Tergesteo Gallery on Piazza della Borsa 15, Trieste. The occasion? The much-anticipated presentation of “Attraversamenti” by none other than the acclaimed Lebanese artist and poet, Laure Keyrouz.
Under the meticulous curation of Giorgia Lo Nigro, a distinguished Arabist, attendees will have the privilege of delving into the depths of Keyrouz’s latest literary offering. The author herself will grace the event with her presence, adding a layer of intimacy and insight to the proceedings.
The affair will be expertly coordinated by Roberto Dedenaro, ensuring a seamless flow of conversation and engagement throughout the evening. Adding to the cultural richness of the event, Silvia Galluccio will treat the audience to readings in Italian, enhancing the immersive experience of Keyrouz’s work.
Keyrouz’s credentials precede her, having served as a beacon of knowledge and cultural exchange. From 2014 to 2019, she imparted her wisdom on Arabic Language and Culture at the prestigious University of Trieste, continuing her legacy at the CIELS University Institute in Padua since 2018. Beyond academia, she wears multiple hats, directing the literary publication “Inchiostro e pietra” and overseeing her own art gallery.
Bishara Ebeid, in a poignant preface, encapsulates the essence of “Attraversamenti,” describing it as possessing “a descriptive – and therefore visual – force that transforms into the energy of the innermost fires, symbolizing intense passions, explorations, and depths. It is also the story of an exile and a call to the collective memory of a people – the Lebanese – tormented and suffering. Between standard Arabic and the ‘dialect’ of the distant homeland, it is the lyrical song of a loss experienced as destiny” (from the publisher’s notes).
As the literary world eagerly awaits the unveiling of “Attraversamenti” at Ubik Bookstore, it stands as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the boundless creativity of Laure Keyrouz.
