On Saturday, June 8, the historic center of Trieste will transform into an expansive urban golf course, complete with 18 holes strategically placed from Piazza Unità to Ponterosso, Cavana, and various other landmarks. Players will be using soft balls, designed for the unique challenges of cityscape golfing.
The event, “In City Golf,” now in its second edition, is a collaborative effort with the Municipality of Trieste. This year’s tournament will feature golfers from across Italy and beyond, who will compete in front of the public, with each hole detailed on the official event map for real-time tracking.
Golfers will gather on Friday evening at the Club House Café, established at Caffè degli Specchi. Saturday’s activities will begin at 10 a.m. in Piazza Unità d’Italia, with the tournament officially starting at 11 a.m.
Each hole is designed to offer unique challenges and surprises, with obstacles to navigate, special terrains to traverse, and unexpected elements to encounter. The imaginative setup of each hole was a highlight for spectators last year and is expected to attract interest again.
The tournament will include support from students of the Da Vinci-Carli-Sandrinelli Institute, who will serve as guides for the players throughout the event.
The course layout includes six holes in Piazza Unità, two in Piazza Cavana, one near the Arco di Riccardo, three in Piazza della Borsa, one between Via San Nicolò and Via Dante, one in Piazza Sant’Antonio, two in Ponterosso, one in Via San Nicolò, and one in Piazza Verdi.
Trieste is set to welcome participants and spectators alike for a unique day of urban golfing.
